Author Note

“So Much Beauty in Dirt” was initially inspired by Han Kang’s novel “The Vegetarian”, in which a woman becomes a plant. I thought, what about a plant who longs to become a woman? I love the idea of a sentient plant and I’m grateful to Han Kang for the inspiration.
